Meet Troy Walker

My wife, Stefani, and I have watched Draper City grow over the years, as we both graduated from Alta High School and met at Salt Lake Community College after I served an LDS mission. We both worked for and attended the University of Utah until I graduated and we started our family. We moved to Salem, Oregon for law school and then bought our first home right on the border of Draper in 1998. We finally settled in Draper in 2004 to raise our family, where our children could attend many great schools and create lifelong connections and memories with wonderful neighbors, teammates, classmates, teachers, and friends.

Our family loves living in Draper because of the sense of community here. We are grateful for the many good friends we have made while serving alongside them. Our family also enjoys working as a team: when one of us does something, we all do it. Over the last seventeen years, we have had a blast organizing and running the Draper Days Parks Events, the Draper Haunted Hollow, and Miss Draper, each of us with a different role, but making it all come together. We have enjoyed participating in city park cleanups, events, the Draper Mayor’s Youth Council, and many sports teams (both as players and coaches).

In addition to serving as Mayor, I am an attorney in private practice right here in Draper. I also serve as:

  • The Salt Lake County Mayors appointee to the Utah Transit Authority Local Advisory Council

  • The Point of the Mountain State Land Authority (The Point).

  • The Pete Suazo Utah Athletic Commission (Chairman)

  • The Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Council,

  • The Wasatch Front Regional Council (WFRC)

  • The WFRC Active Transportation Committee

I previously served six years as a Draper City Council member.

I have been involved in our community through many political campaigns over the years – mainly for local candidates since their efforts hit closest to home. My hobbies include mountain biking on our amazing trails and, when I can, flying as a commercial-rated pilot.
